How I injected Menopur -

  1. Use alcohol wipes to wipe the tops of the saline solution and your powders.

  2. Put a Q Cap on top of the syringe

  3. Stab the syringe with attached Q cap into the saline

  4. Pull back syringe to your saline mL to fill it with air and plunge into the saline. This helps to make it easier to draw back the mL you need without many air bubbles.

  5. Next, I take my first powder of Menopur and stab the top of that with the syringe/Qcap.

  6. Pull back syringe to your Menopur mL and fill it with air and plunge the saline solution into the Menopur power and gently swirl around to dissolve the Menopur power. Draw up your mL amount of the liquid, then repeat for the number of powders you have.

  7. Remove the Q cap and add on a new needle, make sure it's screwed in.

  8. Wipe an area clean with an alcohol wipe. Remove needle cap.

  9. Carefully ensure a small droplet of liquid comes out of the end at the tip of the needle.

  10. Inject all medication in the syringe in a location indicated by your doctor (mine was on either side of the belly button), in the abdomen area just about 1-2 inches to either side or below it.

How I injected Follistim -

1. Wipe off the metal top of the Follistim cartridge with an alcohol pad

2. Dial in your dose (mine was 150mL)

3. Wipe an area clean with an alcohol wife.

4. Carefully ensure a small droplet of liquid comes out of the end at the tip of the needle.

5. Inject the mediation from the Follistim Pen in a location indicated by your doctor.

I did both shots on the same side and changed to the other side for the next series of shots. These injections help to stimulate your ovaries so your follicles begin to grow. In a normal cycle, only ONE bursts through during ovulation because there's usually only one dominant egg that makes it to the breakthrough, all the others get absorbed and are never again egg cells capable of carrying out their one mission. They use these medications to grow more than one egg at a time, based on the follicles that are brought to the cycle that month.
